Berlin Alexanderplatz is a drama-thriller directed by Burhan Qurbani, released in 2020. It is based on Alfred Döblin's novel of the same name, originally published in 1929. The film centers around Francis, a refugee from an unknown country who arrives in Berlin after surviving a perilous journey across the Mediterranean. The story explores themes of immigration, displacement, and survival within a contemporary context. However, unlike Döblin's original novel which was set in the Weimar Republic era, Qurbani's adaptation transports these themes to modern-day Berlin.
