In 'Better Luck Tomorrow', a group of over-achieving Asian-American high school seniors become involved in petty crimes for thrills and profit. Led by Ben Manibag (Parry Shen), the group includes Virgil (Jason Tobin), Steve (Jerry Rice Jr.), Han (John Cho), and Daric (Roger Park). They start by cheating on exams, but their activities escalate when they begin selling stolen test answers to classmates. Their criminal pursuits bring them into contact with Sophie (Sung Kang), a fellow student who introduces them to more serious crimes. The group becomes involved in identity theft, forgery, and even armed robbery, taking advantage of their intelligence and charm to commit these acts. Their criminal enterprise comes to a head when they attempt to steal money from a gangster named Big Chick (Garette Patrick Harden).
