Sarah and Isolde reunite at a Balkan folk song and dance camp in Mendocino, California, initially sharing a joyful experience. Sarah becomes attracted to newcomer Steph, which causes tension between them. After pursuing a relationship with Steph, Sarah begins having vivid dreams about dragons carrying women off through the forest. When reality and fantasy start blending, Sarah realizes that the dragons might not just be in her dreams.
In Josephine Decker's debut feature 'Butter on the Latch' (2013), two friends, Sarah and Isolde, bond over their shared interest in Balkan folk music and dance. However, their peaceful camp outing takes a dark turn when Sarah's romantic pursuit of another camper causes friction between them. The film explores themes of female friendship, jealousy, and the blurred line between reality and fantasy, culminating in a psychologically unsettling conclusion.
