In the future dystopia of 2017, John Henry Brennick and his wife Karen are illegally expecting a baby during strict population control measures. They are apprehended at an immigration checkpoint and sentenced to imprisonment in 'The Fortress,' a private underground prison run by a corporation bent on mind control through computer systems, cameras, dream readers, and painful or deadly devices.
