In rural England, a former judge operates an unlicensed prison with his lover and other ex-wardens for young women they deem have escaped proper justice. The prisoners are subjected to brutal punishments, including public whippings and torture in cages. One prisoner, Patricia, tries to escape but is recaptured. Meanwhile, a new arrival, Ann, struggles to cope with the harsh conditions. Patricia eventually manages to escape again, this time successfully, leading to severe consequences for those involved.
House of Whipcord (1974) is an exploitation horror film directed by Pete Walker, set in a makeshift prison run by a former judge and his associates in the English countryside. The film explores themes of vigilantism, power dynamics, and retribution, as it depicts the brutal treatment of young female prisoners. It's notable for its graphic violence and controversial subject matter, typical of the exploitation subgenre.
