Story

Human Nature (2001) begins with the discovery of Puff, a man born and raised in the wild, by obsessive scientist Nathan and his lover, naturalist Lila. As Nathan attempts to train Puff in civilized ways, such as table manners, Lila fights to preserve Puff's natural state, viewing it as a form of freedom enviable to most. This conflict leads to an unusual love triangle between the three individuals. Throughout the film, Puff struggles with his newfound understanding of civilization and its implications on his human nature.

Summary

Directed by Michel Gondry, Human Nature is a philosophical comedy-drama that explores themes of human nature versus nurture, civilization's impact on individuality, and the idealization of both nature and culture. The film follows an unconventional love triangle between an obsessive scientist Nathan, his lover Lila, and Puff, a wild man discovered living in the forest. Human Nature is a comical examination of desire and the idiosyncrasies of the civilized mind.
