Lady Constance Chatterley (Helen Mirren) marries Sir Clifford Chatterley (Colin Firth), who was severely wounded in World War I and is now handicapped. They move to his family's estate, where Connie meets their quiet and rugged groundskeeper, Oliver Mellors (Sean Bean). As she spends more time with Mellors, Connie realizes that her unhappiness stems from not being fulfilled emotionally or physically in her marriage.
