Julie Wardh returns to Vienna with her husband Neil, but their marriage is strained due to Julie's traumatic past with her former boyfriend Jean, who was sadistic. While Neil engages in business meetings, Julie spends time with friend Carol and meets George Corro at a party. Seeing Jean there causes Julie to leave abruptly. Soon after, Julie begins an affair with George while a serial killer preys on women in Vienna using a razor blade. Julie becomes the target of blackmail due to her affair and suspects Jean might be involved. When Carol agrees to meet the blackmailer instead of Julie, she ends up killed. Believing Jean could be the killer, Julie decides to leave Vienna for Spain.
