Set just before World War I, 'Louisa, een woord van liefde' follows two freebooters named Pierre and Paul who earn a living as entertainers at parties. They meet Isabelle, an orphan girl who has escaped from her orphanage in the forest one night. Taking pity on her, they bring her along with them. They are hired to entertain at Louisa's engagement party, where she is reluctantly engaged to Charles, a man only interested in her noble background.
