Story

In Mean Streets, Charlie, a small-time hood played by Harvey Keitel, finds himself torn between his loyalty to his volatile friend Johnny Boy (Robert De Niro), his love for Teresa (Amy Robinson), and the chance to rise within the mob. Charlie tries to keep Johnny Boy out of trouble while also attempting to protect him from his gangster boss, Tonyolo (Richard Romanus). When Johnny Boy skips town after a botched robbery, he leaves Charlie with the consequences, forcing Charlie to choose between his loyalty to his friend and his own self-preservation.
