In the late 19th century, a group of outlaws plans to sabotage an impending peace treaty between the U.S. government and the Apaches by inciting the Comanche tribe of Chief Big Bear against White settlements. They manipulate the Comanches into attacking settlers while framing the Apache for these crimes. This scheme aims to seize Indian lands illegally once the Whites blame the Apaches and call for military intervention. Legendary scout Old Shatterhand, suspicious of these events, teams up with his friend, Apache Chief Winnetou, to investigate the incidents. They suspect that the Comanches are being paid in alcohol by the renegade Whites. The duo faces obstacles as a prejudiced Captain Bradley is left in charge of the fort while General Taylor travels to Washington.
