Story
In 'Red Joan', we meet Joan Stanley (Dame Judi Dench) in present-day London, where she leads a quiet life until her arrest by British Intelligence Service in May 2000. The story then flashes back to the mid-1930s when young Joan, a physics student at Cambridge University, becomes sympathetic to communism due to the influence of her professor and fellow student, Sonya (Tereza Srbova). She later works as a civil servant for the British government where she gets recruited by the KGB. Throughout the decades, Joan successfully transfers nuclear bomb secrets to Soviet Russia while remaining undetected as a spy.
