Story
Exhausted by life in New York and the conformity of Eisenhower-era America, journalist Paul Kemp moves to Puerto Rico to work for a struggling newspaper editor named Lotterman. There, he becomes involved with an American woman and her fiancé, who is engaged in questionable property development deals. Adopting a lifestyle reminiscent of Hemingway's 'The Lost Generation,' Kemp begins drinking heavily while trying to find his voice as a writer.
Summary
Based on Hunter S. Thompson's early work before Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Rum Diary (2011) is an adaptation directed by Bruce Robinson.
