Shell, abandoned by her mother as a child, lives with her terminally ill father Pete in a remote Scottish Highland gas station. Her daily routine involves running the station and caring for her father. She spends afternoons with a local mechanic but feels trapped in their desolate surroundings. One day, a salesman stops at the station. He offers Shell a glimpse of the outside world, leading her closer to wanting to leave their isolated life together.
Scott Graham's feature film debut 'Shell' (2012) is an adaptation of his award-winning short film by the same name. Set in the bleak yet beautiful Scottish Highlands, the story revolves around Shell and her father Pete as they struggle with their harsh surroundings and the impending loss due to Pete's terminal illness. The film explores themes of love, loss, and the longing for freedom in one's youth.
