Fiscal attorney Rebecka Martinsson receives news of her brother's murder while at a party hosted by her boss and friend Måns Wenngren. She returns to her hometown Kiruna to defend her former sister-in-law, Sanna Strandgård, who is suspected of the crime. As Rebecka investigates, she faces resistance from the close-knit, religious community and grapples with her own past while trying to prove Sanna's innocence.
