Story
In occupied Czechoslovakia during World War II, Eliska, a nurse, and her lover, a surgeon involved in the resistance movement, are discovered by the Nazis. Her lover flees to safety while Eliska, fearing for her life, seeks refuge. A patient whose life she saved previously, Jan from the remote mountain village of Zelary where time seems to have stopped 150 years ago, offers to hide her as his wife in exchange for her care during his recovery.
