Story

In post-Civil War Spain of 1944, sisters Manuela and Candela live in a Galician town. While Manuela focuses on caring for her sick daughter Alba, Candela secretly steals wolfram from a nearby mine to sell in the black market. She also aids Bryan, an English intelligence agent, attempting to shut down the Nazi-supported mine operations. Reluctantly, Manuela assists Candela in contacting former guerrilla Miguel Peña to organize the mine workers into tunneling out stolen wolfram. However, their plans become complicated when Candela helps smuggle Jews to Portugal, hoping to impress Edgar, a young Englishman, and when Franz, the German mine supervisor, develops feelings for Manuela, causing jealousy in Miguel. The sisters must now navigate these complexities while trying to undermine Nazi operations before Franz uncovers them as double agents.
