Anna Nicole Smith (November 28, 1967 – February 8, 2007) was an American model and actress who gained fame as the 1993 Playmate of the Year for Playboy magazine. She modeled for clothing companies like Guess jeans and Lane Bryant. Born in Texas, she dropped out of high school and married at age 17. Her second marriage to much older oil businessman J. Howard Marshall sparked controversy but Smith insisted it was not a marriage of convenience. After Marshall's death, Smith engaged in a lengthy legal battle over his estate. She died in Florida at age 39 due to an overdose of prescription drugs. During her final months, she faced significant media attention surrounding the deaths of her son and custody battles for her daughter.
