Issa Rae, born Jo-Issa Rae Diop on January 12, 1985, is an American actress and web series creator known for her work on 'Awkward Black Girl' and as the lead in HBO's 'Insecure' (2016-2021), where she plays Issa, a woman navigating career and relationship challenges with her best friend Molly in Los Angeles.
