Josiane Balasko, born Josiane Balašković on April 15, 1950 in Paris, France, is a versatile French actress, writer, and director. She gained international recognition for her role as Marijo, a lesbian plumber seeking revenge against her philandering husband, Laurent, in the 1995 film 'Gazon maudit' (French Twist). Balasko won the César Award for Best Writing shared with Telsche Boorman and was nominated for Best Director for this film. She has been nominated for several Césars for Best Actress for her roles in 'Trop belle pour toi' (1989), 'Tout le monde n'a pas eu la chance d'avoir des parents communistes' (1993), and 'Cette femme-là' (2003). Balasko is married to actor George Aguilar.
