Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus, born January 13, 1961, in New York City, is an American actress and comedian known for her prolific career in television. She began her acting career with Practical Theatre Company in Chicago before joining Saturday Night Live (SNL) from 1982 to 1985. Louis-Dreyfus gained widespread recognition playing Elaine Benes on Seinfeld (1990-1998), a role that led to significant critical and commercial success for the series. She has since portrayed Christine Campbell in The New Adventures of Old Christine (2006-2010) and Selina Meyer in Veep (2012-2019). Her extensive filmography includes notable roles in Hannah and Her Sisters, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Deconstructing Harry, Enough Said, Downhill, You People, Tuesday, and various animated films. Louis-Dreyfus has also voiced Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2021.
