Lorraine Pilkington, born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, began her acting career at the age of 15 with a role in Neil Jordan's film 'The Miracle'. Trained at the Gaiety School of Acting, she appeared in stage productions like 'The Plough and the Stars' and 'The Iceman Cometh'. At 18, Pilkington moved to London but returned after a planned Miramax film role fell through. She then acted in films such as 'Human Traffic' and 'My Kingdom', and had a notable television role as Katrina Finlay in 'Monarch of the Glen'. Post-'Monarch', she appeared in productions like 'Rough Diamond' and 'Outnumbered'. Pilkington married director Simon Massey in 2001, with whom she has three sons.
