Maria Theresia von Paradis, born in Vienna during the 18th century, was a gifted piano player and close friend of Mozart's. She lost her eyesight as a child, but recovered through the innovative techniques of Dr. Mesmer using magnetism. However, this recovery came at a cost; Maria started to lose her musical gift.
