Michelle Duncan was born on April 14, 1978, in Perth, Scotland. She trained in acting at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh before studying English and Classics at St Andrew's University. Duncan moved to London in February 2005. Her notable roles include performances in 'Sea of Souls' (nominated for a BAFTA Scotland Award), 'Doctor Who', 'Lost in Austen', the TV film 'Whatever Love Means' as Princess Diana, films such as 'Atonement', 'The Broken', and 'Driving Lessons'. She also starred in stage productions like 'Time and the Conways' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Duncan was initially cast as Portia in 'The Merchant of Venice' at Shakespeare's Globe but had to be replaced due to unforeseen circumstances. Currently, she works as a Drama and English Teacher at Forest School, Snaresbrook, also serving as a form tutor.
