Miranda Jane Richardson, born March 3, 1958, is an English actress renowned for her versatile performances across film and television. She debuted on screen as Ruth Ellis in 'Dance with a Stranger' (1985) and gained critical acclaim throughout her career, notably receiving Academy Award nominations for 'Damage' (1992) and 'Tom & Viv' (1994), and winning the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress for the former. Richardson has been nominated seven times each for BAFTAs and Golden Globes, winning twice for 'Enchanted April' (1992) and 'Fatherland' (1994). Her notable television roles include appearances in 'Blackadder', 'Merlin', and 'Rubicon'.
