Rosanne Katon, born in New York City to Jamaican and African-American parents, began her career in Hollywood during the mid-1970s. She worked consistently on TV shows like Grady, Jason of Star Command, What's Happening!!, Good Times, and That's My Mama. Katon had leading roles in films such as Ebony, Ivory & Jade (1976) and The Muthers (1976). However, she was often typecast in sex kitten roles in R-Rated comedies like The Swinging Cheerleaders (1974), Chesty Anderson, U.S. Navy (1976), American Raspberry (1976), Lunch Wagon (1981), Zapped! (1982), and Bachelor Party (1984). She was also Playboy's Playmate of the Month in September 1978. Katon had a recurring role on St. Elsewhere and appeared in notable films like Motel Hell (1980) and City Girl (1984). In 1981, she became the first African American to be selected as Miss Golden Globes. She also had stage credits including Broadway's Godspell and Women Behind Bars. Later, Katon ventured into stand-up comedy, appearing in Playboy's 'Funny Girls' pictorial in June 1991.
