Susan Siu, born in Hong Kong and raised in Taiwan after moving there with her father at an early age, studied nursing for five years post-graduation before working as a nurse on a ship. After traveling through 23 countries, she returned to Hong Kong to find another job, initially singing in a nightclub under the name Xiaoyin. Since 1970, Siu has been active in the Hong Kong film industry, winning four Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Actress in 2008, 2011, 2013, and 2018.
