Hanna Schygulla, born December 25, 1943, is a prominent German actress and chanson singer. She is best known for her role as Maria Braun in 'The Marriage of Maria Braun' (1979), earning her the Silver Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival. Over a span of 12 years, she appeared in 23 films directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
